Organic cotton September 2009 In order to contribute to a better balance between environment, economy and quality of life for everyone, Gilleman Textiles also promotes the sales of organic cotton. Organic cotton is cultivated on a ground which has no made any use of growth stimulator, insecticide or other chemical product for a period of 3 years. Organic cotton therefore offers the guarantee of an extremely healthy fiber. Organic cotton's popularity keeps growing as well as in the apparel-, upholstery- and home textiles industry. This is mainly due to the fact that besides its environment-friendly quality, organic cotton also offers the advantage of being anti-allergic. |

Clarification concerning Bamboo Renaix, September 2009
Advertising made recently about bamboo is often confusing and may sometimes be considered as misleading as far as natural and ecological qualities of bamboo are concerned. Gilleman Textiles, a leading trader in bamboo/viscose yarn, wants to clarify the situation. Bamboo is a plant growing fast and using a few water. It is natural and ecological. Before being transformed into bamboo fiber, the vegetable is subjected to a chemical treatment (viscose type). The fiber is then classified in artificial fibers. This treatment does not allow bamboo traceability any more as there is a risk of mixture with other cellulosic material. This treatment may highly change the primary qualities of bamboo namely anti microbial qualities, while other qualities such as water absorption are maintained. Conclusion : we need to make a big difference between the bamboo plant and the bamboo/viscose yarn marketed by Gilleman Textiles.
